Chancel Choir

Since its founding in 1842, the South Church of New Britain has had a heritage of excellence in music, both in a series of long-term, distinguished musicians as well as great instruments. The adult choir, now called the Chancel Choir, has also been of high merit. This auditioned, volunteer choir is open to members of the parish and the community, with a core of professional soloists/section leaders to guide it along vocally and musically. The Chancel Choir rehearses each Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9:30 and each Sunday at 9:35 in the choir room.
In addition to providing choral leadership for all the weekly and special services and festivals at South Church, the Chancel Choir presents large-scale concerts in conjunction with the choir and musicians of Immanuel Congregational Church, Hartford, Connecticut, Larry Allen, Director of Music. For information about concerts by the choir contact The Music Series at South Church 860-223-7555 or on the web at www.musicseries.org. The South Church Chancel Choir currently has three CD recordings available for purchase, Choral Settings of Great Hymns,* Sacred Music from Central Europe and A Candlelight Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.
