Chancel Choir
Since its founding in 1842, South Church in New Britain has had a heritage of excellence in music, both in a series of long-term, distinguished musicians as well as great instruments. The adult choir, now called the Chancel Choir, has also been of high merit. This auditioned, volunteer choir is open to members of the parish and the community, with a core of professional soloists/section leaders to guide it along vocally and musically. The Chancel Choir rehearses each Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9:30 and each Sunday at 9:35 in the choir room.
In addition to providing choral leadership for all the weekly and special services and festivals at South Church, the Chancel Choir has often presented large-scale concerts in conjunction with other churches, such as Immanuel Congregational Church and Center Church in Hartford, presented under the auspices of The Music Series at South Church (860-223-7555) or on the web at www.musicseries.org.
